Rural Undercurrents Vendingmachines were set up in the Huebner Areal – a venue of documenta fifteen in Kassel Germany. The network of Rural School of Economics traded throughout the 100 days of documenta fifteen. In and around the Vendingmachines local partners presented goods and knowledge; the dairy cooperative Uplander Bauernmolkerei, the Shared Pot Kommune Niederkaufungen, Frauentreff Brückenhof, Schlachthof Kulturzentrum, Violets against Violence, and of course ruangrupa and Lumbung itself. Also Trans-local guests could join, students from the Sustainable Business Management School at Alanus University near Bonn came along, Zburazh Textiles was our guest, Janus die Wolfskerze came from Neuenkirchen, the staff from the Scottish Sculpture Workshop in Lumsden was visiting and many partners from the Community Economies Research Network EU came to Kassel.
When selling goods all benefits went to them. It was a place made for our network within the documenta fifteen to show, to trade and to act. It was a selective range of goods and objects from local partners, which embody and represent a particular local knowledge. Items costed between between 2,- to 16,- Euros.
After Documenta fifteen ending, the remaining local goods entered the Lumbung Kios network set up by ruangrupa, and keep on circulating, telling stories, and tracking artists routes across a multi-local network of traders and producers. Myvillages remains in the network as a trader, maker and courier.
